Let’s simplify things. 

How would you earn $5 or $50?

You’d create a product or a service, and then you would promote it to potential customers.

When it comes to growing those $50 to $1 million, all you need to do is scale.

So what do you do?

You transform your offer.

After defining the area you know a lot about, it’s time to share your knowledge with others!

I recommend reverse-engineering your curriculum.

Start with problems people want to solve, and look up online.

For example, if you plan on creating sewing courses, your course curriculum could deal with a topic such as: “How to sew dresses.”

This is a banal example, but it’s important to be helpful and create an actionable course, not a course we’d take in college for extra credits and then promptly forget all about it.


Another benefit of online course businesses is that you can create new courses, and up-sell your existing audience.

If they were interested in your course about sewing dresses, they’ll likely be interested in a course about sewing skirts.

At the same time, courses are engaging

You can create a whole community, and incentivize your customers to keep learning.

Instead of creating the entire curriculum about a topic, you can simply choose one segment of that topic and create a highly-actionable webinar.

You can also use webinars as lead magnets for your paid courses or membership sites.

2.3. Making money with membership sites

Membership sites are sites with plenty of valuable resources, and customers pay a monthly subscription to get access to content such as:

  • Articles
  • Case studies
  • Webinars
