Okay, so if you don’t know who Grant Cardone is, you’re probably wondering what the heck I’m talking about. Grant Cardone is a multi-million dollar salesman, business owner, entrepreneur, and real estate investor.

He has tons of content on Youtube and across the internet covering sales, real estate, lifestyle, motivation, mindset, and more.

In this article, we’re breaking down every detail of Grant Cardone University to see if it’s worth it for the average salesperson to shell out the near $10,000 price tag to have Grant personally provide all the sales training you’ll ever need.

I have years of experience consuming Grant’s content, and I have to say, he’s a great salesman.

I’ve seen him personally close sales and conduct himself on the phone, and it’s downright scary. The guy knows what he’s doing, and he’s very good at it.

But, he continues to preach the fact that it didn’t start that way. In fact, when he first started in sales, he hated it.

He says he hated it because he wasn’t good at it. Once he learned how to sell effectively, his relationship with it changed.

Anyway, let’s dive into this Cardone University review by getting to know Grant a little more.

1. Who is Grant Cardone?

Grant Cardone

Grant Cardone

According to his website, Grant is a bestselling author, sales trainer, speaker, and entrepreneur who found his success in the real estate and auto industry.

He’s also a real estate mogul who built a $1.5 billion portfolio of multi-family properties from scratch. He’s also been named the #1 marketer to watch in 2017 by Forbes Magazine.

The guy has credentials, but let me give you my perspective of Grant.

Grant is a major ra-ra sales guy. He loves to build momentum and get people pumped up with his content, so that is my biggest fear about Grant Cardone University.

I worry that his program is going to be a lot of mindset stuff without a whole lot of actionable steps you can put into your daily sales position.

Based on some research, I discovered that I’m half wrong about that, but we’ll get into the finer details later on.

1.1. What about 10X?

If you know anything about Grant Cardone, you’ll know that his big motto is “10X.” He wants you to 10X your life by applying ten times the amount of effort you do now to anything you do.

That means, if you work 8 hours a day, you should work 80 hours a day (that makes sense, right?).

Obviously, you can’t work 80 hours a day, but I think you get the point of what he’s trying to say.

He’s saying you need to apply more effort into your sales game if you want to have the success that Grant has.

He says that once he started to develop that 10X mindset, his life changed completely.

Now he owns a private jet, billions of dollars in real estate, and a sales training program that practically sells itself.

1.2. Grant’s current sales business

So, if you’re wondering how to buy Grant Cardone University, you’ll find it kind of funny and entertaining when I tell you this.

You can’t simply buy the program online without first going through one of Grant’s salespeople.

If you look him up on Youtube, you’ll find plenty of videos about his sales room where he has dozens of salespeople, and their main job is to hit the phones all day long and cold call businesses to try and sell the program.

He doesn’t give them a call sheet or anything. He tells them to hit the Google Search and call every business you can find.

If they hang up, call again. If they tell you to get lost, call again.

He has a relentless and seemingly exhausting strategy. But hey, it looks like it’s working.

The guy is a master of the hard sell, and he’s built an entire business model around it.

2. What can you expect to learn with Grant Cardone University?

Now let’s take a trip away from Grant himself, and let’s focus on Cardone University and what you might learn inside the program.

There are a lot of videos, and I mean a lot.

Some of them seem a bit repetitive, but we’ll dive into each section of the university and break down what you can expect to learn from each.

2.1. Selling basics

Selling basics

Starting with the basics, Grant will teach you the following points for beginners:

  • Step by step process to attain your targets
  • Strategies to become a professional
  • Know-hows of making the most important sale
  • Success rituals to control time

This 28-course section will teach you how to find your ideal targets and how to behave as a professional salesperson.

He’ll also cover the know-hows of making the most important sale, which focuses on moving yourself away from unnecessary work so you can get to the pot of gold faster.

Grant also talks about success rituals to help you control time and spend less time in between sales. If you haven’t realized this yet, Grant is big on managing your time and wasting as little of it as possible.

The man is over 60 years old, and he hasn’t been this successful his whole life so I can understand why he has this mentality.

2.2. Understanding the buyer

Understanding the buyer

Moving on to a 29-course section that will teach you to understand who you’re talking to.

These lessons cover:

  • How to instantly build credibility
  • The secret to developing the power to predict
  • The ability to NEVER lose a deal over price
  • Understanding of the #1 RULE in selling

Grant says that understanding your buyer is one of the most requested online sales courses he has.

He focuses on some of the most challenging tasks in sales, which is sticking to a process.

This section focuses on treating each person the same, whether they are difficult or easy.

This section of the program also talks about handling a customer's concerns to understanding the real reason why people buy anything.

There’s a bit of secrecy behind this section, so you’ll have to shell out $10,000 to find out what these secrets are.

2.3. The sales process

The sales process

The sales process is a 73-course section, which includes a certification when you complete it. It covers:

  • Learn how you can increase sales with a Perfected Sales Process
  • Learn sales presentation tips for using your sales process as an asset that will increase sales
  • Best Practices for Fact Finding and Negotiating
  • Industry-leading Sales Strategies and Sales Advice
  • Double your proposals presented to clients

Here Grant talks about increasing and closing sales using a small handful of tips.

He says you need to know negotiating strategy, poise, and forward-thinking if you can lead a client towards an agreement to close.

2.4. Theory of closing

Theory of closing

Moving onto the next one, Grant will teach you the “theory” of closing. This module includes:

  • The mistakes you must avoid in the close
  • The 3 things that will make you or break you
  • Super advanced closing strategies

It’s no secret that closing is the most important aspect of sales and the one that most people struggle with the most.

If you can’t close the sale, you can’t make any money. Grant says that the problem most people have is they don’t understand what the close is.

He says you have to understand the close if you expect to find success.

If you enroll in this course, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of what is happening when a close occurs.

You’ll learn how to be more confident, how to increase your success ratio, and how to respond when people ask you difficult questions.

2.5. Closing strategies

Closing strategies

This 106-course section covers more of the applicable steps and strategies behind securing the close.

While the previous set of courses was more of a “theory,” this is the step by step process of closing.

It includes:

  • An abundance of rebuttals to close the deal
  • Step by step situational breakdowns of negotiations
  • Access to the 17 things that will kill customer stalls
  • Advanced closes for every situation

Honestly, if Grant can nail this 106-course section and provide truly applicable steps that you can use to close anyone, this alone would be worth $10,000.

Grant says that most people fail because they don’t know how to handle objections.

As a result, they don’t make as much money as they can because they’re always canceling appointments, hanging up the phone, or offering discounts.

You, as the salesperson, need to know how to handle the objection without having to refer back to the manager or supervisor.

Grant says that is the sure-fire way to kill a salesperson's confidence. He’ll help you overcome it here.

2.6. Internet lead response

Internet lead response

In this section, Grant comes off the phone and focuses more on closing sales using the internet. It includes:

  • How to increase contacts by 900%
  • The one thing that will KILL your chances of closing
  • 10 mistakes almost every company makes with internet leads

Here Grant talks about how you need to approach online sales differently than you would on the phone or in person.

He explains that this person wants to be handled differently, and these courses will help you and your team understand the online customer, how to approach them, and, most importantly, what mistakes to avoid.

2.7. Incoming calls

Incoming calls

We all know that Grant loves phone sales, and what’s better than inbound calls?

According to Grant, nothing if you know how to control the call and put it back in your hands.

This set of 22 courses covers:

  • The 1-Call Close
  • How to set an appointment that shows every time
  • How to control the call NOT the caller
  • The BULLETPROOF incoming script

Grant says that 92% of every sales transaction takes place over the phone, but only 85% of those customers are happy with their experience.

This is a huge problem, but it leaves plenty of opportunities for the right people.

Incoming calls will teach you to become a pro on the phone with a proven structure and format to handle incoming calls and nail down an appointment or sale from one call.

2.8. Handling objections

Handling objections

If I had to pick one issue that has been my biggest problem with sales, it would be handling objections.

I think it’s other people’s primary issue as well because this is a 311-course section, and keep in mind, this is only one small portion of the entire university. It covers:

  • Real-time solutions to handling even the most difficult objections
  • Every objection that you will encounter handled
  • Instant correction

Grant says that preparation is the key to handling objections, and you need to know how to handle every single one if you want to make the sale.

He covers a variety of different strategies to handle objections, so you’re prepared for everything.

2.9. Top traits of great salespeople

Top traits of great salespeople

Let’s be real, sales is a huge mental game.

If you aren’t at your best and you don’t “feel like it” that day, it will show in your performance.

Grant covers some of the mindset associated with being a top salesperson in this module:

  • Secrets that only the successful know
  • The Cardone Path to Greatness
  • How to surround yourself with the successful
  • How the Greats handle failure and rejection

Uncle G makes some interesting points here.

He says that the top salespeople produce two times more results than the average person and five times more than the bottom salesperson. That means that 20% of your team takes care of 80% of the sales.

What if it wasn’t that way? What if everyone was producing at their best? How would that change your business?

He says that the best salespeople of all time have a certain set of traits that they possess, and that is the main reason for their success.

Some include showing up every day, relentless refinement of their craft, having a great network of people, investments in education, as well as other things.

2.10. Cold calling

Cold calling

Cold calling terrifies a lot of people, and let me tell you, I’ve done my fair share of cold calls trying to sell different services. It’s not great if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Even if you’re an expert, making a cold call is still a nerve-wracking experience.

That said, Grant has a proven strategy to nail the cold call, and it’s exactly what he does every day. Here’s what’s covered in this section:

  • Step by step process to build the perfect cold call
  • Strategies to handle objections on cold calls
  • Know-hows of getting past gatekeepers
  • Success rituals to attack your day

Grant still believes that cold calling is the single most powerful way a salesperson can increase their sales.

Cold calls put the salesperson in the driver’s seat and can help a startup grow at a low cost.

He addresses issues like getting past the gatekeeper to the decision-maker, what to say and how to say it, how to handle objections when you call, and how to stay positive so you can win more calls.

2.11. Follow-up

Follow-up

Even more important than the cold call is the follow-up.

It’s no secret that most people will not close on the first call, you will have to follow-up with them.

How you follow-up is just as important as when you do it. This section covers:

  • Ways to be remembered
  • Strategies to stand out from the crowd
  • Creative ways to follow-up with prospects
  • The secret to following-up persistently without being obnoxious

Grant wants to help you stay fresh in the mind of your customer, and he does this by teaching his students how to make your call stand out.

He says that following up isn’t as simple as just picking up the phone and calling back, he wants you to schedule a follow-up during the initial call and make sure they are there to take your call no matter what.

2.12. Prospecting

Prospecting

What if you could find your ideal client right now? I’m talking about someone who is dying for whatever it is you have to offer.

Wouldn’t that make the sales process easier? This is where the prospecting section of Grant Cardone University comes into play.

Grant wants to teach you how to find sales-ready opportunities so you can close more sales, for more money, and have a higher sales profitability.

This section covers:

  • Mastering Sales Prospecting on the phone with 1 technique
  • Learn the easiest sales call you will ever make
  • Scripts on making the outbound sales call
  • The 9 hottest sales leads you are overlooking

2.13. Live events

10X Growth Conference

If you research Grant, you’ll likely find plenty of information about his 10X Growth Conference.

Grant has been doing these for the past couple years, and he’s had some big-name guests like Daymond John, Tai Lopez, Gary Vaynerchuk, Russell Brunson, Kevin Hart, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Magic Johnson, and Oprah as speakers.

In this section, Grant will teach you how to hold live events and how to kill the crowd at these networking opportunities. (not literally)

He talks about the body language you should have, how to stay motivated, how to get over “imposter syndrome,” and more.

2.14. Personal finances

Personal finances

Here Grant ventures away from sales a little to talk more about how to manage your finances.

In addition to being a master salesperson, Grant talks a lot about how we have the wrong idea about money, and we invest in the wrong things.

He’s a big believer in having as little money as possible in the bank. He believes in “going broke” as he calls it, as much as possible.

According to Grant, there was a period of time where he was making multi-millions per year but had less than $10,000 in his bank account most of the time.

He does this because he saved money is lazy money, and he wants to make sure that his money is always working for him.

In this section, Grant teaches you how to adopt this mentality and how to get past the broken mindset that many people have about money.

2.15. 100 ways to stay motivated

100 ways to stay motivated

One of the reasons Grant is so successful is because of his relentless effort and ability to stay motivated no matter what.

All of this sales training is useless if you don’t come into it with the right mindset.

In this section, Grant teaches you how to stay motivated, how to motivate a team, how to find your personal switch, and how to master goal setting.

2.16. New content added

In addition to the primary course offerings. Grant’s team is always adding new content to the university, and some of those include:

  • How to become a millionaire now
  • How to make millions in business
  • How to make millions on the phone
  • 10X
  • Secrets to closing the sale
  • Top 7 sales secrets
  • Follow-up sales secrets
  • Wealth creation formula
  • 5 Steps to your best year ever
  • Secrets of the wealthy
  • Money and finance
  • How to become a millionaire
  • Negotiating and closing masterclass
  • Be obsessed or be average
  • Mastering objections

3. My opinion of Grant Cardone University

I’ve personally invested in many courses.

In fact, I’ve spent tens of thousands on digital marketing, sales, and mindset courses over the past ten years.

I know how to see through a scam when I see one. This course is by no means a “scam.”

We like to throw the word scam around and claim that things won’t deliver on their promises because the person in charge is corrupt or looking to steal money from you.

Do I think this course is worth the $10,000 price tag? I 100% believe that it’s worth 10k, if not more.

What I do think is that the course titles and content within make you believe that this will be an easy process. That is not true by any means.

Understanding all of these courses and modules of sales, training, and mindset is not easy, and it will take a lot of work.

With the work, it might even take years for you to master.

Let’s not forget that Grant didn’t start to experience this level of success until he was in his 50s, and most people want to make a million dollars yesterday.

3.1. Is it all about high-pressure sales?

If you’ve absorbed any of Grant's content on Youtube, you’ll see that he implements a lot of high-pressure sales tactics in his business when he sells this stuff.

What I’ve learned is that he is actually empathetic to his customers, and he approaches sales with a unique mentality.

The reason he is so confident in sales is that he truly believes in what he's selling.

I mean, come on - Grant Cardone University has over 1000 lessons, so I am sure this took a ton of time and money to make.

Plus, he uses other celebrities and successful business people throughout the course to present the content in a different way.

Grant says, “If you truly believe in the product you’re selling, you’ll be much more confident in your sales.”

The man simply believes that everyone can benefit from his sales training, and I can agree with that.

4. The pros of Cardone University

The pros of Cardone University

Okay, so let’s take all of this information we know about Cardone and put it into some standout pros. How will taking Cardone U change your life?

First, you will gain access to some of the best sales training on the planet.

There is no doubt that Grant teaches you to become the king or queen of the spoken word. You will learn how to manage every objection, complaint, and concern your potential customer could have.

You’re also gaining access to a wealth of knowledge and experience from other industry experts who know what they’re talking about.

These experts include sales professionals, entrepreneurs, business owners, and influencers.

Finally, the course is broken down into enough easy to absorb sections that make it possible for you to take it in chunks.

If you’re using Cardone University to train a team of salespeople, it’s also helpful because you can have them devote a certain amount of time per day to the training.

Something else that I like is that the training doesn’t only focus on sales tactics, but it helps you with your mindset as well.

I feel there is a nice balance between applicable steps and theory.

5. Some downsides to Cardone University

The cons of Cardone University

I wonder if he used the Grant Cardone 10X Rules to guide his pricing because it’s expensive.

That $10,000 price tag I’ve been talking about covers you for one year of Cardone University.

The good news is if you have a sales team, you only need one Cardone University login for your entire team.

The bad news is, if you don’t have 10k in the bank you won’t be learning all of Grant’s sales secrets and you’ll have to get better at sales before you can afford the course.

Another downside is my personal opinion but something I’ve heard from a lot of other people as well.

The lessons are long, and most of the time, they’re long because of Grant’s delivery of the content.

If you know anything about GC, you know he’s not the best speaker in the world. He rambles on, he has a harsh accent, and he doesn’t speak like the most intelligent person.

If you’re a person who has a hard time absorbing information, you might struggle with taking all the small details from Cardone University.

One significant downside that I see with Cardone U and something that other customers see as well is the amount of information Grant has available for free.

It’s worth noting that a lot of this free stuff hit the internet long after he came out with his sales training because he was trying to build his brand so he could sell more university subscriptions but still.

There is a lot of free info out there revolving around the teachings of Cardone U, and he even has a sales training Monday-Friday at 12 noon EST.

These trainings focus on handling objections, cold calls, mindset, and family life.

If you’re paying 10k for a training program, you would hope that you’re gaining exclusive access to that valuable information, but Grant, being the hyperactive guy he is, blurts it all out for free every day on social media.

But, isn’t that the truth with most online business courses?

All of this information is available for free across Google and Youtube, but the point of taking a course is to get it assembled in a way that is easy to take in and absorb.

The last problem I have with Cardone University is the amount of repeat content.

I think I mentioned closing sales and handling objections like 15 times when describing each section of course offerings.

That’s because he repeats the content a lot, and from knowing him, I don’t think it’s done on purpose.

I don’t believe that he’s trying to pad the content to make it seem like you’re getting more for $10,000 than you are, but I think it’s primarily due to his poor delivery of the course content.

6. Is Cardone University for you?

So, by now, you might be deciding if Cardone University is something that could work for you.

If you own a business that relies on sales, if you have a team of salespeople, or if you are looking for better and faster ways to sell your services or products, you might benefit from Cardone U.

Make sure to pull out your wallet if you dare dial the number on Grant’s website because they’ll be someone waiting on the other line ready to apply everything Grant teaches on you.
