Launch Your Online Business in Just 7 Days

Over the past few years, we’ve seen a significant shift in the way businesses market their products online. Static websites are now a thing of the past; the future of selling online is now with sales funnels.

While the spray and pray strategy might have worked a couple of years ago, it’s no longer going to cut it.

Quickly putting together a website and running your ads on repeat won’t do much to add to your bottom line.

That’s why you need a sales funnel and one company riding this profit bandwagon is MentorBox—a subscription-based service that, according to their slogan, helps you read like a CEO.

It has quickly grown over the past two years to become a powerhouse for learning covering a diverse range of topics.

With all the hype surrounding MentorBox and the crazy numbers of famous guests featured on their ads, it was time we also got a taste of all the goodness that MentorBox provides.

We wanted to know whether MentorBox was indeed the “Encyclopedia of knowledge” or just another over-hyped sales funnel that would rope you into paying for a subscription fee that would up draining your bank account.

That said, you can’t deny the beauty of how it’s sales funnel works.

From its free trial offer page to its upsells to the order confirmation page, it has a lot going behind the scenes and that’s what makes so exciting and complicated at the same time.

Stick around as we delve deeper into how MentorBox sales funnel works. But first…

1. MentorBox review

MentorBox

Two infamous internet marketers created MentorBox; Alex Mehra former NASA scientist turned internet serial entrepreneur who’s generated over a billion dollars in revenue and Tai Lopez who’s known for being an advisor, investor, and founder of over twenty multi-million dollar companies.

They’ve got a rather simple but effective subscription-based business model.

Each week, MentorBox’s team reads some of the best books on a variety of topics including business, entrepreneurship, health, fitness, relationship etc. and then condense all those books into easily digestible, bite-sized chunks of information.

By doing this, subscribers can consume all those books in a short time—minutes even, compared to the time it would take to read an entire book.

And for some extra cash, you’ll be able to watch interviews with highly rated business moguls and authors who dish a ton of practical advice and wisdom.

Subscribers also get physical copies of MentorBox books as well as other resources and tools.

The whole premise of MentorBox is that it provides a novel way of learning. Alex and Tai created an engaging and fun way of learning from some of the world’s best thinkers and authors.

If you’re an information sponge or are looking to level up your skillsets but don’t have the time to read a book each week, then MentorBox provides a unique opportunity to help you get there.

They have four main USPs:

  • Video Workshops: most of us are already familiar with audiobooks and podcasts--which exploded in the recent past, but what if you could watch your favorite gurus and authors on video? That’s the experience MentorBox provides with their subscription service.
  • Audiobooks lessons: sometimes, your schedule is too hectic to let you read a book or watch an entire video and that’s where audiobooks come in. MentorBox’s audio lesson provides short nuggets of insanely valuable information created in collaboration with top minds and authors that can be consumed on the go.
  • Cheatsheets: the whole idea behind MentorBox is to summarize the knowledge provided in books to allow subscribers to read and grasp the information in a maximum of ten minutes. The data is condensed into one-page long cheat sheets and memorization booklets that help you master the topics quickly.
  • Community discussions: MentorBox provides a social learning platform that helps you connect with like-minded individuals who share your ambitions and goals. It allows you to interact and network with influential individuals in live discussions making it one of the most valuable masterminds.

What’s more, according to Jonathan Kendall a CEO, MentorBox forces you to learn new things every day and can be a great pivot to help you get from where you are to where you want to be.

You also get the following as part of your membership:

  • Over 500 hours of watch time for your lessons
  • Downloadable workbooks to help you stay on track
  • Access to their online learning dashboard, which gives you plenty of information on lessons and books.
  • Books are summarized, and the information is condensed into audiobooks.
  • Cheatsheets for learning quickly and improving memory.
  • Other study resources and tools and,
  • The option of upgrading to their premium version, which provides physical copies of books.

Here’s what you get with their premium subscription plan:

  • Two or three books are delivered to your doorstep
  • A thumb drive jam-packed with summaries of the books on their platform
  • Each of the books comes with cheat sheets and workbooks
  • Study guides and bookmarks are also included as well

While there are many mixed reviews over the platform, there’s no denying the fact that (according to Tai Lopex ) it boasts over 65,000 active subscribers, so they must be doing something right.

It’s time we took a deep dive into how their sales funnels works.

2. MentorBox sales funnels hacked

Tai Lopez and Alex Mehr are some of the best internet marketers out there, and it’s no surprise that the entire sales funnel surrounding MentorBox—even after subscribing to the service, is rather salesy.

Their campaigns penetrate through every corner of the internet, and once you visit their landing page—even once, thanks to pixels you can expect to see them everywhere you go online for a couple of months.

After clicking through one of their numerous Ads on YouTube, Google, Facebook, or Instagram, it takes you to their main sales page, which offers a 3-day free trial depending on the page you land on.

section 1

When you click through their Ads after doing a Google search, the 3-day trial will only set you back $1, but when you visit their pages directly, then it’s FREE.

It’s a great marketing tactic to recoup some of the money spent on paying for Google Ads.

However, regardless of how you land on their landing page, once your three days are up, you pay a small fee of $7 or $9 a month which translates to about

3. Landing page

As far as sales pages go, theirs was built to convert. While it featured a countdown timer, they did away with it because it was somewhat gimmicky—it would restart whenever the page reloads.

That said, their sales copy is exactly what you’d expect with top-rated marketers working behind the scenes.

Aside from that, they also use a variety of conversion tools to improve conversions; that’s why they included multiple CTAs sprinkled generously throughout the page.

But all of these features are pretty standard with sales funnels nowadays. We’ve gotten used to it now, and we don’t resent them for their over the top and aggressive marketing strategies.

According to their Ads, they indicate that they’ll deliver the books to your home each month, so when we got to their landing page, we were expecting the same and for less than $10 a month, it was a steal.

When you come to think about it, it doesn’t make sense for them to deliver books to your doorstep for that much—at least not financially.

But once you read through the fine print, it becomes quickly apparent that you’re paying for a membership site offering lessons for a specific number of books.

They’ve since updated their Ads and landing pages, so it’s clear what you’re purchasing and included screenshots of their lessons on Teachable.

By the look of the landing page, you can tell that either of these two marketers spent a great deal of time creating it:

  • The title is short, clear, and straight to the point “Read like a CEO” couldn’t have said it better.
  • Next up is the video, a great way of instantly grabbing attention and pulling in the viewer.
section 2
  • The idea is once you’ve watched the video you’ve got your CTA adding emphasis on the “FREE” part
  • After that is the section adding urgency and a dash of FOMO
  • Then there’s the big “red button ” to draw them in.
  • And no forms
section 3

Hook. Line. Sinker

That’s how you build the first-part of a high-converting landing page for your sales funnel.

That said, there’s a subtle little conversion secret they’re using—not sure if you’ve noticed it yet, but they haven’t included a price tag after the free or $1 trial.

Don’t worry; it wasn’t easy for me to pick it up first time around, not with all the “FREE” going around.

4. The signup form

Like a good boy, I pressed the big blue button, and I was automatically redirected to their sign up form.

They first ask you for your account information, i.e. your name and your email address.

Next up is your credit card information to give you a seamless and uninterrupted experience.

It’s all part of the MentorBox brand; after all, one of their main selling points is not to waste your time.

It’s worth noting the forms are broken down. It doesn’t feel intimidating to prospects and having only two form fields on the first part; well, that makes it easy for them to fill out.

5. The first upsell

Next up is the first upsell.

Now, at the time of writing this, February 2020, this was the first upsell of their sales funnel.

They regularly change upsells as part of their A/B testing experiments, so our first upsell may not necessarily be the same as yours.

The first of MentorBox’s upsells is Entrepreneurship Academy, and like the sales page, they’ve used some neat tricks to improve conversions albeit some people don’t sit well with it.

We’ll let you decided for yourself.

First off, they give you a big pat on the back for signing up then introduce a second offer— a classic sales funnel tactic.

The landing page build and optimization is excellent and like their sales page, it’s short, sweet and direct.

Entrepreneurship Academy appeals to every entrepreneur out there and helps you learn the ropes on building, growing, and scaling your business.

Here’s you can build a high-converting upsell page like MentorBox’s Entrepreneurship Academy page:

  • Come up with an attention-grabbing headline,
  • Include a captivating video, blur out the background so it makes it clear where the focus should be,
  • Add a big green button with a simple CTA that’s begging to be pressed.
section 5
  • Touch on some pain points in the summary
section 6
  • Provide plenty of bonuses and finally,
  • Don’t include the price above the fold
section 7

Some people may find not including the price above the fold to be scammy; others find it to be a great marketing tactic, we’ll leave that decision of whether or not to include it at the top of your page up to you.

So I bet you’re wondering how is it going to cost?

Well, as of writing this, it’s going to cost you $199. And don’t forget, at this point, your customers still haven’t accessed their FREE 3-day trial offer or the physical copies of the books.

But if you decide you’re not interested in their offer, they redirect you to…

6. The second upsell or downsell

For those of you strong enough to resist the first upsell offer, MentorBox redirects you to another offer—the second upsell or down-sell page.

Like the other upsells, their downsell page shows you Tai Lopez and Alex Mehr know their stuff.

section 8

They first hook you in with the 50% discount offer and a relatable emotion-evoking headline.

Using persuasive language, urgency and offering viewers a grant worth € 9 discounted twice from € 89 a month to € 19.95 and finally to € 9.

section 9

And right after is the CTA, which is clear and concise.

7. The third upsell

Then there is the final upsell page; the Money and Investment Club.

The whole premise of MentorBox providing this offer to teach you some of the best and latest in investing and building wealth.

By now, you know the drill:

  • Come up with an attention-grabbing headline
  • Hook them with an engaging video
  • Add a prominent and clear CTA above the fold
section 10
  • Highlight the main benefits
  • Offer a discount
  • Add another CTA and
section 11
  • Don’t forget to provide a money-back guarantee
money-back guarantee

And finally, you get to …

8. The order confirmation page

At the end of the sales funnel is the order confirmation page.

It has MentorBox’s customer support email address, a “congrats,” details of your order and instructions for accessing your product.

confirmation page

9. How to cancel MentorBox

While MentorBox gives it’s a customer a 30-day money-back guarantee, the process of doing so could be easier.

The only way to get your money back or cancel your MentorBox subscription is by contacting their customer support team through the email on the order confirmation page.

The problem, however, is that with more than 65,000 active subscribers, your email may fall through the cracks, and by the time they read and respond to it, then it might be too late.
