Launch Your Online Business in Just 7 Days
Do you want to learn how to build a sales page with WordPress?
A sales page is the perfect way to showcase your products to potential customers and encourage them to make a purchase — However, the design and creation process in WordPress can be quite challenging.
So, in this post, we’ll show you how to create a sales page in WordPress, step-by-step, with no coding required.
Let’s get started!
A sales page is a webpage specifically designed to sell a product or service.
The success of your sales page depends on all the elements you decide to include on it.
Hence, you must make sure that each word and visual points towards that goal.
Design is crucial, and we’re not simply referring to aesthetics — you should be using the correct pages to achieve a particular objective, ultimately optimizing your content.
A landing page is used to collect names and email addresses.
Think of it as pure lead generation — the visitor is directed to your landing page when they’re interested in your offer, and in exchange for their details, they’ll get access to a freebie, or any other lead magnet.
Later, you'll try to sell them a product or service.
Selling is done on the sales page.
Website visitors can get all the information they need to decide whether or not to buy the product. Think product details, testimonials, and cost.
Now that you know what a sales page is, let’s see what you’ll need to create one with WordPress.
There are a few things you’ll need before you can start creating your WordPress sales page.
If you’re new to WordPress the first step of the process is purchasing:
1. A domain name — A domain name is your website’s address; it offers a user-friendly way to locate and access your webpages online
2. Web hosting — Web hosting is the place where your website’s data is stored.
Web hosting and domain names are 2 independent services.
However, they work together so you can create a functional website.
It is possible to buy both services from the same company.
In fact, it’s advised to do so; WordPress recommends using hosting services like Bluehost or Dreamhost.
Once you’ve purchased hosting and registered your domain name, you can start building your WordPress website — or at least some of your website’s pages (static pages such as your homepage, “About Us” page, and “Contact Us” page).
There are a few different ways to create a custom sales page in WordPress.
One method is to use a WordPress sales page theme — a WordPress theme specifically designed to function as a sales page.
A second method is by installing a landing page builder plugin.
Here are a few reasons why you should use a landing page plugin to build your sales page:
Take note that not all WordPress landing page plugins will include every feature you might need to create the perfect sales page — so, make sure you do your research before you decide on installing just any builder plugin.
According to Neil Patel, you can improve your existing conversion rate by 113% or more, simply by having good sales copy.
Writing persuasive sales copy can be challenging.
It might be difficult to strike the perfect balance between engaging and instructive content.
The most crucial consideration when writing is the interests of the customers.
Pro tip: Write persuasive sales content that speaks to them on a personal level, grabbing their interest from the start.
Once you’ve bought your hosting and registered your domain name, installed your landing page plugin, and have strong sales copy, you can finally start creating your sales page.
Here are 7 easy steps to build your sales pages using a WordPress landing page plugin — for this example, we’ll use SeedProd.
The first thing you need to do is install and activate the SeedProd plugin.

On the SeedProd dashboard, you can activate pages such as a “Coming Soon” page, and a “Maintenance Mode” page.
Next, go ahead and click on the ”+ Create New Landing Page” button to start the creation process.
Once you’ve clicked the ”+ Create New Landing Page” button you should be taken to the SeedProd landing page templates library.

You can easily filter the templates by clicking any one of the options along the top of your page or by typing in the search bar.
Additionally, you have the option to start building your sales page from scratch.
Since we want to create a sales page, we filtered the templates by clicking on the “Sales” tab.

Search and choose the template that is closest to the sales page design you want.
Hover over the template of your choice and click the “Tick” icon. For this guide, we’ll select the “Dinner Sales Page”.

After clicking on the template, it’ll open a popup where you’ll need to provide a name for your landing page as well as the page URL.

Now, on to the fun part — customization!
The SeedProd drag-and-drop page builder provides several customization features for you to edit your sales page in just a few clicks.
You can click on any element on your sales page and edit the content in the sidebar.
You can also easily change the colors, fonts (to other Google fonts), and images to match your branding.
Heading customization feature
Additionally, you’ll see that many elements on your page include block-specific templates to change the color and design quickly.
Button blocks customization feature
You can also change and customize all visuals on your page straight from the sidebar editor.
Image customization feature
Furthermore, SeedProd has dozens of ready-to-use blocks that you can use to add more content to your sales page.
These blocks are divided into 2 categories: Standard and Advanced.
The standard blocks include commonly used tools such as:
Standard blocks features
On the other hand, Advanced blocks include more landing-page-specific elements — These blocks are specifically designed for better lead generation.
Unfortunately, if you’re using SeedProd lite, you won’t be able to access all of the advanced features — If you want to use more of these blocks, you’ll need to upgrade to one of SeedProd’s paid plans (Pro or Elite plan).
Advanced blocks features
Plus, you can add pre-built sections to your sales page.
However, this feature is only available with premium plans.

Now that you know all the customization tools, you can edit your sales page until you’re happy with how it looks.

Once you’re done editing your sales page, click on the “Save” button at the top right corner to save all your progress.
SeedProd provides a variety of email marketing services you can connect to easily keep track of your leads and sales whilst growing your mailing list.
First, click on the “Connect” tab at the top left of your page.
Then, choose your preferred integration and follow the instructions to connect your account.
Email marketing services and others
Once you’ve completed the integration process, you can link your mailing list with any sign-up form you use on your landing pages.
If you’re part of a premium SeedProd plan, you’ll be able to integrate with all the email marketing tools in the image above—without a premium plan, you won’t be able to integrate at all.
Additionally, you can set up Google Analytics tracking, Recaptcha spam protection, and connect with other apps via Zapier.
Now that your sales page is ready, you can head on over to “Page Settings”.
Here, you can configure your general, SEO, and analytics settings.
You can also add custom scripts in your header, body, and footer sections.

When you’re done configuring your settings, click “Save”.
Your sales page is ready, and the only thing left for you to do is publish it.
Simply, click the downwards arrow next to the “Save” button and click “Publish”.
Preview and publish your sales page
You can preview your sales page to see what it would look like once published.
You’re also given the option to view your live sales page after publishing.

Despite the fact that using WordPress plugins to build your landing pages can be quick and convenient, there are a few disadvantages to consider before disregarding other page builder alternatives.
Not everyone is aware of all WordPress’ drawbacks and limitations — so, we’ve done some research and found 3 cons you need to know about before creating your website with WordPress.
Despite the fact that WordPress is completely free, there are still substantial expenses.
While some plugins for WordPress are free, they generally offer limited customization features — as a result, you’ll need to pay for plugins with advanced features.
Another thing to consider is that the more functionality you want, the more plugins you'll add — this will open up the door to investing much more time (updates and keeping track of everything) and money than you initially anticipated.
Additionally, since free themes are overused, if you want your website to stand out and your visitors to have a good experience, you’ll need to purchase a better WordPress theme.
Page speed is crucial to your website.
A brand new WordPress website with a default theme and no plugins could potentially score high on Google’s rankings.
However, when you add a theme or install additional plugins (that aren’t optimized for speed) to customize the look of your website, the page speed tends to drop — excessively.
WordPress integration for the majority of your marketing tools may also prove to be more challenging than you initially anticipated.
You’ll need to either manually integrate a marketing tool into your posts, or use other email services that have their own plugin.
The issue with plugins like this is that they frequently have constrained functionality and rarely provide you with the control you need to do data-driven marketing.
That concludes the list of WordPress disadvantages that no one will tell you about.
The good news is that there are a bunch of other page builder alternatives out there, and we’ve brought you one of the best!
