Email marketing is one of the most powerful tools in your marketing toolbox.

With an average ROI of $44 for every $1 you spend, email marketing is a game-changer.

However, email marketing is not the only thing you need to reduce your costs and generate more revenue.

Recently, ConvertKit has noticed an uptick in customers. But ConvertKit is not the only marketing service you can use.

In this article, I’ll show you the best ConvertKit alternatives. And unlike ConvertKit, some of these alternatives are all-in-one marketing platforms.

Let’s take a look!

1. What is ConvertKit and how can you use it?

ConvertKit is essentially an email marketing tool, but with a few cool catches

I already wrote about ConvertKit features in depth here.

1.1. Email marketing automation

Add people to your mailing list, and launch an automated email nurturing sequence to turn your leads into customers.

This is pretty handy, especially since you can completely automate it.

1.2. Audience segmentation

You can divide different types of subscribers according to their similarities, and create personalized content for each group.

For example, you can organize your subscribers by their interests (e.g. they downloaded a particular eBook lead magnet), purchases (e.g. they purchased a specific product type), activities, and more.

Audience segmentation

This is really important, folks!

78% of US Internet users say that personalized content increases their purchase intent.

After all, we all love personalized offers more than generic offers.

1.3. Landing pages

Another handy feature that ConvertKit offers are landing page builders.

Landing pages

This is great!

It’s important to have different landing pages for different products so you can personalize at scale.

When I see ConvertKit offering this, I know we’re moving in the right direction.

1.4. ConvertKit pricing

Okay, here’s where I stop liking what I see.

Your ConvertKit price depends on the number of your subscribers.

Yes, they do offer a free account, but it’s only for up to 500 subscribers, and you don’t get automation, reporting, or integrations.

If you want all the features and you have up to 1,000 subscribers, you’ll have to pay $29/month.

If you have up to 3,000 subscribers, the price grows to $49/month, and so on.

Not ideal.

That’s why I’m going to check out great ConvertKit alternatives that offer a lot more.

2. ConvertKit alternatives for email marketing

If you only want email marketing, you should check out:

  • MailChimp
  • AWeber
  • ActiveCampaign

I’ve already spoken about email marketing tools in this article

Feel free to check it out!

In general, email marketing platforms only offer simple landing page builders and marketing automation.

Only a few offer visual automation builders.

2.1. Key features

When it comes to ConvertKit alternatives for email marketing, you should be looking for:

2.1.1. Audience segmentation

MailChimp’s powerful audience segmentation

MailChimp’s powerful audience segmentation

In addition to creating separate lists, great email marketing tools should give you the ability to set powerful filters for content personalization.

For example, this MailChimp example shows that you can set up to 5 email marketing filters to tighten your targeting.

You can segment subscribers according to their email activity, purchases, and even behavior.

2.1.2. Email automation

AWeber’s example of automated email marketing funnels

AWeber’s example of automated email marketing funnels

This is another very useful feature - visual automation builders.

With these, you can create your customers’ email marketing experience.

For example, if they subscribed because of lead magnet A, they’ll get different follow-up emails than people who subscribed for lead magnet B.

2.1.3. A/B testing

ActiveCampaign’s split testing example

ActiveCampaign’s split testing example

A/B testing is one of the conversion optimization staples.

ActiveCampaign lets you test everything from content, to calls to action.

automation flows

Additionally, ActiveCampaign also lets you test automation flows

In my opinion, that’s what makes it one of the best ConvertKit alternatives if you only need email marketing.

And if you want an all-in-one marketing platform, let’s check out...

3. ConvertKit alternatives: one-stop marketing platforms

ConvertKit alternatives

We’ve all gotten used to paying for separate tools for our marketing needs.

We host our websites on this platform, conduct our email marketing through that platform, and so on.

Fortunately, that no longer has to be the case.

I’m overjoyed that there are so many great one-stop marketing platforms!

I frequently review them, and I’m going to show you a few that have email marketing capabilities to parallel ConvertKit’s.

Let’s take a look!

3.1. ClickFunnels

ClickFunnels logo

ClickFunnels allows you to create high-converting sales funnels.

  • Use Actionetics to create automated email sequences
  • Start running your own affiliate program

Who should use ClickFunnels?

In my opinion, ClickFunnels works best for digital products, coaching, consulting, and network marketing.

However, the sales funnel based approach is a great asset for eCommerce in general. It can help you even if you sell physical products.

3.1.1. ClickFunnels pricing

ClickFunnels pricing

ClickFunnels has two pricing plans:

  • $97/month - Up to 20 funnels and up to 100 pages, and 3 payment gateways
  • $297/month - Unlimited funnels and pages, 9 payment gateways, follow-up funnels

3.1.2. ClickFunnels verdict

All things considered, ClickFunnels is a great ConvertKit alternative

It definitely offers more than just email marketing. In my book, that’s enough to give it an A.

I wrote an in-depth review of ClickFunnels a while ago, so make sure you check it out if you want to learn more.

Who should use

This combination of features means that you no longer have to pay separately for different marketing services, or jump through hoops to be able to run a dropshipping online business.

I’ve already explained that my main goal of building was to provide the full package.

I got tired of paying for different tools, and watching my costs rise. It took too much time, and money.

I just wanted results.

And this sentiment was what informed my work on

That’s why it has comprehensive features, from email marketing to support for all kinds of businesses. editor

Dropshipping? Not a problem with

No matter what you sell (physical or digital products, services), charge access for (webinars, courses, membership sites), you’ll have a reliable partner in

3.2.1. pricing pricing

You probably noticed that I have a huge problem with non-transparent pricing. Is it too much to ask for a few plans that tell me what I can get for my $$$?

That’s why comes in three very clear plans:

  • Startup - $27/month - Unlimited emails for up to 5,000 subscribers, unlimited funnels, 3 membership sites with unlimited members, unlimited storage space, marketing automation, affiliate marketing
  • Webinar - $47/month - Everything included in Startup + Unlimited emails for up to 10,000 subscribers, 5 membership sites, 2 custom domains, 3 evergreen webinars, coupon codes, A/B tests

3.3. Kartra

Kartra logo

Kartra logo

On the lookout for one-stop marketing shops, I frequently come across Kartra.

Why do people like Kartra?

Online business owners like Kartra because it’s got a great feature package, and a solid email marketing solution:

  • Page builder:Checkout pages, landing and sales pages
  • Lead gen: You can collect leads through lead forms, and organize them and your customers into databases
  • Funnels and campaigns: Just like and ClickFunnels, Kartra offers funnel builders
  • Email marketing
  • Membership site support
  • Affiliate marketing programs

Who should use Kartra?

First of all, Kartra is a great choice for people who are starting their online business for the first time.

It’ll eliminate the hassle of working with and paying for dozens of different tools.

Visual page builder

Visual page builder

They also have special elements for agencies, so agencies can manage clients through Kartra.

Still, I think that if you have an agency, you’ll need a more powerful CRM solution.

I also like that they have membership site support, so if that’s your jam, keep on rockin’!

3.3.1. Kartra pricing

Kartra pricing

I get a headache when I see too many detailed plans, and I’m guessing you do, too.

So let’s try to simplify Kartra pricing:

  • Starter - $99/month - Up to 2,500 leads, 15,000 emails/month, 50GB bandwidth, up to 100 pages, 1 custom domain, up to 20 products, 2 membership sites
  • Silver - $199/month - Up to 12,500 leads, 3 custom domains, 125,000 emails/month, 125GB bandwidth, unlimited pages, products, and membership sites, Kartra Agency
  • Gold - $299/month - Everything in Silver + Up to 25,000 leads, 5 custom domains, 250,000 emails/month, 250GB bandwidth
  • Platinum - $499/month - Everything in Silver and Gold + Up to 50,000 leads, 10 custom domains, 500,000 emails/mo, 400GB bandwidth

3.3.2. Kartra verdict

Obviously, Kartra is a great alternative to ConvertKit because it offers more features than ConvertKit alone.

However, you can see that they’re spreading themselves thin by trying to moonlight as a CRM system.

If you can only onboard up to 50,000 leads with the most expensive package, you could run out of room.

The same goes for bandwidth.

Unfortunately, a jack of all trades is a master of none

If you want to learn more about Kartra, you can read my in-depth review here.

3.4. Kajabi

Kajabi logo

Kajabi logo

Okay, I really, really like Kajabi.

It was originally designed as an all-in-one marketing platform for online businesses that offer courses.

However, it’s come a long way.

What does Kajabi offer?

Kajabi is a pretty versatile tool, offering:

  • Integrated courses, subscriptions, and digital products
  • Website and page builders with templates
  • Email marketing tools
  • Automations
  • Lead tracking
  • Affiliate program
  • Communities like Facebook Groups

Who should use Kajabi?

I still stand by their original mission: Kajabi is great for people who want to share (and charge for) their knowledge with courses or membership sites.

If their features replace your other tools, it’s much cheaper to transfer to Kajabi than pay for the tools in your stack separately.

3.4.1. Kajabi pricing

Kajabi pricing

Kajabi has 3 plans:

  • Basic - $119/month - 3 products, 3 pipelines, unlimited landing pages and marketing emails for up to 10,000 contacts, 1,000 active members, 1 website, basic automations, webinars and events
  • Growth - $159/month - 15 products, 15 pipelines, unlimited landing pages and marketing emails for up to 25,000 contacts, 10,000 active members, 1 website, webinars and events, advanced automations, affiliate program
  • Pro - $319/month - 100 products, 100 pipelines, unlimited landing pages, 2,000,000 marketing emails for up to 100,000 contacts, 20,000 active members, 3 websites, advanced automations, affiliate program, code editor

3.4.2. Kajabi verdict

I personally don’t like the fact that affiliate program is not included in the first plan.

Additionally, their standards make it seem like they want people to commit to the most expensive Pro plan right away.

If you want to sell courses or webinars but find the pricing outrageous, make sure you check out my article on 8 great Kajabi alternatives.

4. The final verdict: what is the best ConvertKit alternative?
